This recipe makes fudge. Not fudge brownies, just fudge. That's it -plain and simple. Oh yeah, it tastes really good.
Ingredients
(Makes 1 8-inch pan)- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. condensed milk (unsweetened!)
- 2 1/2 tbsp. butter
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 oz unsweetened chocolate -do NOT use Baker's chocolate, I repeat, do NOT use Baker's Chocolate1
- 1 tbsp. corn syrup (light)
- 1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Procedure
- Combine sugar, condensed milk, butter, salt, chocolate, and corn syrup in a HEAVY 3-quart saucepan. Heat slowly.
- Stir until everything is melted. When the chocolate is melted thoroughly, beat with electric mixer until smooth.
- Let cook to halfway between soft and medium ball stage (use candy thermometer if available)
- Let cool until barely touchable. (temperature)
- Stir in walnuts, vanilla. Beat the mixture until it starts to set.
- When it starts to set, get it into an 8-inch square pan (buttered, of course). Don't wait to do it, or you will need to get a big spoon to eat it right out of the pot. Believe me, it is not like licking the bowl!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM... will someone make this WITH nuts for my visit in a couple weeks??? I'll see you in school on Fri and I fully expect to have some there!
